Mumbaikars, Here’s How You Can Track Your Property Reservations, Roadworks Online

The world is going digital, and with every piece of information available online, our work is getting easier. Keeping up with these technological advancements, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now enabled a portal that will allow you to track developments and road work updates online.

The new portal is called ‘one MCGM GIS’ and is also the newly added feature on its mobile app, “MCGM 24*7.” The BMC Commissioner gave a presentation before the launch describing salient features of the portal and updates on the mobile app.

The portal will allow you to get information about reservation of plots under development plans, water pipelines in specific areas, details of paid property tax, the progress of road works etc.

You will also get online access to information about disaster management, solid waste department, water resources, sewage operations among others.

This portal will be a one-stop shop for information from several governmental departments, which will be linked together through a Geographical Information System (GIS).

A senior official from BMC told the Asian Age, “As the facility to check the DP reservation is GIS-based, one can immediately verify it on the spot with the help of Android or iOS mobile. For this, the option ‘location’ in the mobile should be kept on.”

Users interested in details about road work or pipeline maps will have to select the desired area on the map in the portal and will be informed about everything from work undertaken from the past, defect liability period and utilities available in the area.

Not only will Mumbai get better access to information, this portal, officials hope, will also make paperwork faster. “Today, a no-objection certificate for any project and remarks and response on files are moved parallelly between departments, which takes 22 days. When all the information is made unavailable on one portal, remarks will be automated, which will reduce the time,” the BMC presentation read.
