Tea-stall owners making large batches of tea, restaurants giving out free food, hotels and offices providing shelter to people who are stuck. The list of people coming out to help is endless.
While you are doing your bit to help people in need, do spare a thought to the animals you may come across in an unsafe situation. Do remember that any little help you could offer them matters a great deal.
Things to ascertain before you try to rescue the animal:
1. Check if the animal is wearing a collar. That way you could call the number listed and keep them informed.
2. Before removing an animal from its habituated territory, check with people nearby if the animal is a building pet perhaps.
3. Ensure that you stay calm before approaching the animal, they sense fear rather well.
4. Once the animal is rescued, if you are unable to take the rescued animal along, place the animal is a dry and safe spot.
