The trailer of Rajkummar Rao’s next film Newton is here, and it is unlike anything you have seen.
Newton is written and directed by Amit V Masurkar and is produced by Drishyam Films, which has churned out award-winning films like Ankhon Dekhi (2014) and Masaan (2015) previously.
The film revolves around Newton Kumar, a sincere and honest government clerk, who is sent on election duty in the conflict-ridden jungles of a Naxal-afflicted village in Chhattisgarh.
While the trailer gives snapshots of a man with rock-solid principles struggling with a corrupted system and apathetic security forces, one also sees how he sticks with his convictions and tries to help hapless villagers amidst mortal peril—looming in the form of guerrilla attacks.
Emerging as one of the finest actors in Hindi Cinema, every film starring Rajkummar has been refreshingly different from the regular stream of movies churned out every year.
With storylines leaving a long-lasting impact upon the audience, he has managed to rise above clichéd character moulds with his interesting choice of films—something that even experienced and popular Bollywood actors choose not risking.
Apart from Rajkummar, the film has a star cast of amazing actors like Sanjay Mishra, Raghubir Yadav and Pankaj Tripathi. The film has been garnering great responses at different film festivals and will release in India on September 22.
