Tired of walking your dog on crowded streets, Bengalureans? Sad about how they cannot enjoy running in large open spaces with the wind in their fur and mud in their paws? Fed up of dodging dog poop that dots our roads and sidewalks? Or, do you simply just love the idea of watching a brouhaha of doggos be carefree and silly?
Then head to the Domlur Dog Park, located opposite the CPWD Housing Colony near HAL Airport Road.
Less than 48 hours ago, this pet park was an illegal garbage dump decorated with the layout’s trash. Thanks to the efforts of the Ugly Indian and proactive residents of Domlur and Indira Nagar, this 6,000 sqft of BBMP(Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike)-owned land has been given a much-needed makeover, which will help many folks and their little or big tykes, the Deccan Chronicle reported.
“I have a one-year-old super-energetic German Shepherd. It’s next to impossible to walk him along the road with vehicles passing by. When we take our dogs to a regular park, we are often told to leave as it is against park rules. So something like this is a solace to all of us,” Deepten Sarkar, a resident of the area told the Deccan Chronicle.

And how is dog waste treated? “A ‘poop pit’ has been created where dog owners have to place scooped poop in. The pit is managed with mud to avoid any foul smell and this also creates manure for the park, a volunteer from the Ugly Indian told the Chronicle.
Other dog parks in the city are – Cubbon Park, which is opened on the weekends between 8 am and a little after 9 am, for dogs to play without their leashes on. Then there is the dog park at The Elephant Pond – also off-leash, located near Ragihalli, Bannerghatta, about an hour’s drive from Bengaluru. Rounding off the list is Petboro’s Dog Park, which has agility equipment for the animals too!
