Actor Andrea Kevichusa and prominent filmmaker Kivini Shohe are set to represent Nagaland at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival scheduled to be held from May 16-27.

In a bid to promote the development of the film sector in Northeast India, the duo has been made part of the delegation supported by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

Hailing from Kohima, Andrea started modeling at the age of 15 and has worked with notable brands and fashion designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Last year, she made her Bollywood debut in Anek as a boxer alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. The 22-year-old also won the Filmfare Award 2023 for Best Female Debut.

Meanwhile, Kivini is a renowned filmmaker and founding president of the Film Association of Nagaland (FAN).

Her documentaries, such as Under the Longfuru Sky (2018) and The Great Anghs (2001), cover untold stories, mainly from the eastern part of Nagaland.

She is well-known for her award-winning film Oh my Soul (2014), which highlights the struggles of three transgender women forced into sex work.

She has also directed short Sumi folk-based stories like Winter Nights Dream, Anishe Flower Maiden, and Even the Dead Speaks.

She has been the jury chairperson for the 14th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala 2022 and for the 5th South Asian Film Festival Kolkata 2022.

Shohe is also a recipient of the Governor’s Award 2014 in the field of Arts for filmmaking.
