Like any other newlyweds, Sridevi Ashala and her husband would enjoy Bengaluru’s nightlife by exploring various eateries.

Soon, this habit started to affect the couple’s health and led to an unfortunate incident — Sridevi had a miscarriage.

“My doctor told me that one of the reasons for it could be my unhealthy lifestyle. It was really a wake-up call for me and my husband,” she says.

The incident made the couple mindful of what they were consuming. Sridevi also started to read more and more about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

When she had her first baby, she realised that baby foods contained a lot of chemicals such as arsenic, cadmium, and lead.

Unable to find a chemical-free baby product line, Sridevi created her own. This is how Tummy Friendly Foods was born.

“I was in software engineering for 15 years, but I finally feel like I’m doing something meaningful. I want to make sure that babies get good food,” she says.

She experiments with making the food tasty and healthier for children such as mixing ragi with chocolate.

Sridevi currently sells easy-to-make foods, such as porridge mixes and pancake mixes, for infants from six months of age onwards. The venture earns her a profit of Rs 10 lakh per month.
