St Paul Church

Constructed in 1601, it is the largest functioning church in Diu, known for its intricate sculptures and stunning Jesuit architecture by skilled Indian artisans. Besides, it boasts rich wood carvings, a splendid facade, intriguing volutes, and shell-like motifs.

Gangeshwar Temple

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this ancient temple is believed to be built by the Pandavas 5,000 years ago. It is famous for its five Shiva Lingas under a rock-cut cave. During high tide, seawater submerges them and only the tips can be seen.

Pani Kotha

Also known as Fortim Do Mar (fortress of the sea), the fort was reconstructed by the Portuguese. It served as a prison for them and can be only be accessed by boat. There is a  small Chapel in the fort dedicated to Our Lady of Victory and a lighthouse as well.

INS Khukri Memorial

The INS Khukri Memorial is dedicated to the crew aboard the warship of the Indian Navy that was martyred during the Indo-Pak War in 1971. The memorial has a replica INS Khukri F149  enclosed in a glass case and an open-air theatre giving a great view of the Arabian Sea.

Diu Fort

This enormous fort houses a residence for the nobles, a warehouse, barracks for the soldiers, a house of arms and ammunition, a prison, a church, and a chapel. The fort has stood the test of time and guarded Diu against various invaders.

If you are visiting Diu, you cannot miss the street in the old town highlighting the local heritage through residential buildings known as havelis. The architecture of the building shows the remarkable amount of wealth brought into Diu by the historically privileged contacts of Vaniyas.

Jagdish Temple

The main idol in this temple is said to be 300 years old and is cut from a single piece of wood. This double-storey facade has carved stonework, floral design, and figures of sadhus, pandits, soldiers and lions painted in bright colours.

Khukri Warship Museum

Khukri was launched in 1986 and decommissioned in 2021. It was a year later that it was formally handed over to the administration of the Diu district and converted into a museum. Here, you can get insights into advanced weaponry, Naval combat techniques, etc.

Nuno Da Cunha

Built in 1535 by Bahadur Shah of Gujarat Sultanate and the Portuguese, the statue is a result of a defence treaty between the two. This large statue was first installed in Diu Fort and was later moved to the garden of the Collector’s office.
