Delhi University (DU) has launched a three-month certificate course on patents to help students understand tools associated with patent and intellectual property rights.

A patent is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive legal right to prevent others from making, using, or selling an invention.

The DU course aims to feature expositions of emerging patent trends in technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, and nano-technology.

It also aims to familiarise students with legal issues related to patents which will help find solutions to myriad legal and practical challenges for the lawmakers.

Launched by the Research Council of DU on 17 May 2023, the course will start from 1 July and the first batch will end on 30 September.

The DU course will be taught in hybrid mode including 48 hours online and 12 hours offline and classes will be held for two hours each on Saturday and Sunday.

Graduates from any discipline and students who have completed Class 12 are eligible to apply for the course.

Applicants who are only Class 12 pass need to submit the documents of certified interest in innovation, invention, and startup.

The students need to pay a course fee of Rs 5,000 and the last date to apply for the course is 10 June 2023.

The course will take 300 students per batch and will be run in multiple batches every year. Find more details here: https://ccp.rc.du.ac.in
