Did you know that the story is based on the lives of two legendary freedom fighters?

Revolutionary figures Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Komaram Bheem from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Komaram Bheem (essayed by Junior NTR) was a Gond leader who escaped prison and went to a tea plantation in Assam from where he worked to protect the Gond tribe.

Bheem encouraged members of the community to fight for their rightful ownership over land, food and freedom.

Bheem and his army were hunted down in September 1940, and shot by the police forces.

In 1922, Alluri Sitaram Raju led the Rampa Rebellion against the British Raj’s 1882 Madras Forest Act.

The act restricted free movement of the tribal community within their own forests and disrupted their traditional Podu agricultural system.

At the end of the struggle, Raju was captured by police forces, tied to a tree, and shot by a firing squad. He was given the title of manyam veerudu, or ‘the hero of the jungle’.
