Indian film ‘Chhello Show’ has been shortlisted for the 95th Academy Awards.

It was India's official entry for the 2023 Academy Awards in the International Feature film category.

It is also the first time in over 20 years that an Indian film has made it to this category.

Directed by Pan Nalin, the Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’ is a coming-of-age story of a village boy who dreams about making films.

A semi-autobiographical film, it bears an association with the director’s memories of childhood and how he was fascinated by cinema.

The film stars Bhavin Rabari, Vikas Bata, Richa Meena, Bhavesh Shrimali, Dipen Raval, and Rahul Koli.

Bhavin Rabari makes a movie debut as the nine-year-old protagonist, Samay.

The film has also won several other recognitions like the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain in 2021.

It was also nominated for the Tiantan Award at the 11th Beijing International Film Festival 2021.

At the Oscars, the movie will be competing with 14 other films including Argentina, 1985, Decision to Leave, All Quiet on the Western Front, Close, and The Blue Caftan.

The nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced on January 24.
