Two students from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad - Mani Teja Lingala and Mrudul Chilmulwar - have designed a pocket-sized piece that acts as a template.

The RBI is all set to introduce a brand new Rs 100 note, with several new improved features.

The five selected locations include Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Shimla and Bhubaneshwar.

The new design will share some salient features with the other new notes and will have a unique picture on its reverse side

The officials expressed that the size and dimensions of the new Rs 100 notes will remain unchanged to avoid dispensing issues at automatic-teller machines (ATMs).

With no other denomination between ₹100 and ₹500 notes, the ₹200 note is expected to bridge the shortage.

The new bills are reported to carry advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting.
