The Better India (www.thebetterindia.com) was started to give a voice to millions of change makers and innovators of the country, using the power of storytelling to inspire change. With over 60 million readers and participants, it is Asia’s largest solutions-focused platform.

Our latest venture is The Better Home - a DTC subscription box of eco-friendly, natural Home Cleaners made by MSMEs across the country. This foray is to further our movement to drive conscious consumption by empowering MSMEs to scale on one end and empowering customers make better choices that positively impact our environment and communities, on another.

 

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Copy Editor – Gujarati to join our team.

Job Description – Copy Editor – Gujarati, The Better India

 

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned content professional and writer who can launch and lead The Better India’s content efforts for the Gujarati speaking community. They are expected to build the Gujarati audience base and platform from scratch by identifying and sourcing stories that will appeal to the audience, creating rich media content from them, and distributing them across all relevant social platforms in order to maximise the reach and engagement among the community.

 

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Ideate and develop a 360 degree content plan and strategy (across all relevant digital platforms and content formats) to launch the Gujarati platform for The Better India, working as a one-person army in the initial phase, with a milestones-based team growth plan
  • Identify, source write and edit stories and content fitting The Better India’s narrative of positive, inspiring stories about ordinary citizens of the country
  • Identify and hire freelance writers and content creators within the allocated budget
  • Analyse and report metrics to track and monitor performance on all the content being put out in order to optimize the reach and engagement on all platforms and content formats (website, social media, video views, etc.)

 

Our Ideal Colleague will

  • Have a million story ideas that they would like to bring to the world and use this platform to bring it to life!
  • Have a pulse of the Gujarati speaking community and be up to date on all trending topics  
  • Live and breathe the internet and have used online content management systems and tools like WordPress 
  • Be social media savvy (We’re talking TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, ShareChat, Helo, Hike – and whatever else you can think of!)
  • Have a deep understanding and expertise of Facebook advertising, Instagram advertising, YouTube advertising and has experience in using tools like Google Analytics, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Hubspot and/or their equivalent
  • Have at least 3  years of experience in a Gujarati online content firm or digital publication
