How Mizoram’s Motorists Follow One Simple Rule to Avoid Traffic Jams & Ensure Congestion-Free Roads

Can you think of a time when there was no traffic jam on the road when you were heading to your workplace or dropping your child to school?

“You are not funny,” you would say!

Well, in the city of Aizawl in Mizoram, a block or a jam is a thing of the past!

In a recently viral video of a ‘busy’ street in the city, one can find a rare display of not just awesome traffic management but extreme coordination among the people too! The cars take the left side of the road while all the bikes and scooters occupy the right, and this simple rule ensures minimal congestion.

Traffic has invariably become part and parcel of all of our lives as the cities develop and more people opt for personal modes of transport. Despite having strict protocol for traffic rules, many don’t follow them and often end up hurting themselves or others; some even being fatal.

The people who are driving in the video seem to be effortlessly managing without any confusion and even seem considerate enough to let other vehicles merge into the narrow lane. There does seem to be a rush, but cars and bikes amazingly swift pass harmoniously, giving absolutely no room for any block to happen! There appears to be ample space even for the pedestrians to walk by without having the paranoia of being hit.

How cool is that!

The best part about the whole arrangement is that one can find hardly any intervention or supervision from the traffic police to man the ongoing flow of vehicles.

Despite some vehicles being parked along the speedway, there is still extreme discipline and absolutely no confusion!

Such a commendable act of road traffic management is something that cities across India, especially metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, should take note of!
