Indians on Twitter Are Trending #MileSurMeraTumhara for the Best Reasons
Our differences unite us in the end.
Sometimes social media can make one feel like they are in a war-zone. Given the increasing number of controversies playing out on platforms like Twitter, it is always a breath of fresh air when everyone decides to put aside their differences and get along with one another.
And that’s exactly what happened with Indian Twitter recently when thousands joined in to celebrate everything that makes this country tick. And all it took was a reminder of an iconic song to do so.
It all started when one user, in response to the debates around singer Sonu Nigam’s latest statements about “forced religiousness,” came up with the hashtag #MileSurMeraTumhara to appeal for unity.
Instead of ranting on Twitter, all #sonunigam hd 2 do ws ask d mosque if he cud record d azaan 4 them in his sweet voice#Milesurmeratumhara

Anyone growing up in the 80s and 90s would know about the iconic musical number going by the same name that used to be a staple on television channels like Doordarshan.
The hashtag quickly started trending as thousands of Indians started using it as a battle cry for national integration in the spirit of the song.
