SOS Alerts to Uploading Videos: Here’s What Bengaluru Police’s New Safety App for Women Can Do

In a bid to ensure the safety of women in the city, the Bengaluru City Police has launched an app that will provide assistance to women during emergencies.

A fully integrated app, Suraksha – Bengaluru City Police can be downloaded free of cost and is compatible with both Android and iOS phones. After downloading, women can activate a button-like icon on the screen into an SOS trigger by pressing it five times.

After SOS button has been activated, a 10-second video will be recorded and uploaded, and police will be sent to assist the user during the emergency. Users can also send an SOS alerts to friends and families.

The app is linked to the control room and cops will be able to trace the location in real time through GPS.

These GPS-enabled fleet has also been integrated with the app and hence can answer a woman’s distress call directly. The vehicles will be headed by female police officers.
