This Cop’s 50-Second Tutorial on Tackling Fire Due to an LPG Leak Can Save Your Life Someday!

Here’s the thing about LPG cylinders. Nearly every household in India has one of them. They are extremely useful in cooking, but given that they are highly flammable, they are also a major fire hazard.

So, what do you do when a fire catches on?

Thankfully, one cop called Sushil Kumar has taken it upon himself to share a handy video on Facebook on what one can do to avert a crisis. In the 50-second video, Kumar is seen standing next to an LPG cyclinder on fire, providing a comprehensive demonstration to a gathered crowd in Hindi.

Kumar tells the crowd that it is imperative to cut off the oxygen when there is a case of fire, in order to put it out. He suggests, take a wet cloth and wrap it tightly around the cylinder. He says, “Make sure you cover the entire cylinder from all sides with the wet cloth otherwise it won’t work. And it is important for the cloth to be wet enough that it sticks to the cylinder. That’s how you will be able to cut off the air supply and the fire will get doused.”

The video that was uploaded on March 19, has gone massively viral since and has been viewed 8.3 million times in a matter of two days. It has also been shared over 279,000 times across the social media platform. People have flooded the comments section commending the cop for his simple yet cohesive tutorial.
