Dhoni Treats His Old Chaiwala to a Lavish Dinner Proving He Will Always Be the Captain of Hearts

While millions continue to miss him on the international field, it is clear that Dhoni is enjoying his much-deserved break from the pressures of captaining an international side.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is leading his best life. Ever since he stepped down as the Captain of the Indian cricket team, the much-beloved cricketer has enjoyed some downtime with his friends and family.

And that includes treating his old chaiwala to a lavish and sumptuous dinner.

The man hailed as one of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket, is currently in Ranchi captaining his home state of Jharkhand in domestic one-dayers for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Turns out, while out and about, he ran into the man who used to serve him tea before he became a cricketing legend and recognised him. Quickly, “captain cool” invited his chaiwala back to his hotel where he treated him to dinner alongside his teammates.

Dhoni has been enjoying his time away from the pressures of captaining an international side by going back to his roots.

Recently, social media had a heyday when he posted a picture of himself travelling by train for the first time in 13 years alongside his state teammates.

And as most pet lovers can attest, he has also taken free time to spend with his dogs. In a hilarious video posted on Instagram, you can see the cricketer trying to play a game of fetch with a cricket ball (surprised?) and giving them a “pep” talk.
