Actress Disha Patani Stood up Against Slut Shaming With This Powerful Instagram Post

This is why Bollywood actress Disha Patani's Instagram post is being hailed by everyone across social media.

Prominent personalities with social media accounts are no strangers to online trolls who regularly hurl abuses along their way. The scrutiny is even higher when it is the case of women, who get their fair share of comments slut shaming them for their photographs.

Case in point, when a number of trolls abused actress Disha Patani over a dress she had worn to the Filmfare awards earlier this year.

In fact, some commentators even blamed her for inviting the abuse with her choice in clothing.

Tired of the constant abuse, Disha stood up for herself targeting the rape culture prevalent in society that polices a woman’s clothing rather than changing the mentality of abusers.

In a scathing Instagram post that has now gone viral, she has taken a stand against slut and body shamers in the backdrop of the molestation and rape stories in the news lately.

In the note, she says, “It’s easier to judge a woman on the basis of how much they cover up their skin (sic) but it’s harder to accept your own cheap mentality when you can’t stop staring at those inappropriate places which you are asking her to cover up!”

She ends her post by beseeching people to “stop this hypocrisy” and open their minds. Fans and members of the general public have lauded the actress for being brave to speak out on this subject.

Here’s hoping her message is seen by everybody!
