Sometimes during the darkest of times, heroes emerge to save the day. That is the case of a group of teenagers from Rajasthan that worked together to help capture a man claimed to be the most horrifying paedophile the state has ever seen.
It has only been days since 27-year-old former tutor Rameez was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing 11 underage students and recording those acts on camera, but one thing is clear – it was the brave act of a few teens that led to his arrest.
It all started five years ago when 13-year-old Feroze (name changed) was himself a student studying under Rameez. The paedophile reportedly made him watch a video of him abusing one of his other students. Absolutely terrified and unsure of what he had seen, he never went back to his tutor again.

But he was also unable to shake off the rumours that surrounded Rameez and his own experiences. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, the now 18-year-old spoke about how he decided to bring down Rameez to ensure he would never do that to another child again. So he got together with a few of his friends and decided to collect evidence – those videotapes.
He says, “We chose a time when Rameez had taken other children from the school to a trip to Udaipur, Chitorgarh and Mount Abu on January first week. Thereafter one of our friends managed to get into his house and get the hard disk of his computer.”
Even though they were able to enter the home, it still took them a while to get hold of the videos and decode the information. But once they did, they were shocked at the extent of Rameez’s crime.
Realising that they now had evidence to stop him, the teens headed to the school where Rameez was a teacher. While the school management reviewed the tapes, they told the boys that they will only be firing Rameez and not be filing an FIR against him.
But the police got involved and Rameez was arrested. Two of his victims have also filed official cases against him so far. The police are now thinking about taking action against the school for not filing an FIR and bringing this crime to the public’s notice.
For their part, the teenagers who helped bring this to light recorded their statements to the police and have also turned over the videos that will serve as evidence for this man’s crimes.
