
As many as 279 firms from across the world and 270 Indian firms will be participating in the air show in Bengaluru, from February 14 to 18.
As the highly popular biennial air show and aviation exhibition, Aero India, kickstarts Tuesday in Bengaluru, we can be certain of one thing – apart from attracting top Indian and foreign firms, it will also be visited by aviation enthusiasts eager to get a glimpse of the pomp and splendour that the air show generally offers. Organised by Defence Research and Development Organization, this will be the 11th edition of the show.
But people need not fret over whether Aero India 2017 will live up to the hype of the previous editions, as a statement from the ministry of defence notes, “It is expected that 2 lakh business visitors will attend the show. The gross area (of the show) has also increased from 2,50,000 sq. m to 2,60,000 sq. m.”
Here are some exciting developments slated to take place over the course of the show that will end on February 18:
The focus will be on Make in India initiative

As many as 279 firms from across the world and 270 Indian firms will be participating in the show and signing deals that will further propagate Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India initiative. Some of the firms slated to sign on the dotted line are Boeing Co and Airbus.
There will be representatives from across the world

There will be exhibitors from different parts of the world, including United States, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Singapore, UAE, Australia, Spain, South Korea, Canada and more.
NETRA will be handed over to the Air Force

On the very first day of the show, NETRA, an Embraer 145 with Indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C), will be handed over to the Indian Air Force.
It will be Surya Kiran team’s 500th performance

The Surya Kiran team, which is an aerobatics demonstration team of the Indian Air Force formed in 1996, will be conducting their 500th performance on Tuesday.

First indigenous multi-role helicopter will be showcased

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will be showcasing a number of their key products at Aero India 2017 but most eyes will be on the mock-up of India’s first indigenous multi-role helicopter that will be making its debut from the company.
