The class 1 student and chess prodigy from Puducherry is taking the world by storm.
Meet K Kamalini Hardhana Nimban. She is six years old and lives in Puducherry. And while she probably may not seem that much different from the average kid her age, she will also be representing India in the World School Chess Championship at Iasi in Romania in April.
She will be joining two other girls representing the country in the under-7 championships. She will also be participating in the Asian school chess championship at Panjin Lianoing in China where she is heavily favoured to do well. This will be held in July of this year.
This chess prodigy started her career at the age of four, when her father initiated her to the sport.

And in a span of less than two years she has already racked up some impressive wins at the national level. At the national school chess championship at Nagpur held this year, she went home with a silver medal.
Of course, when she isn’t taking the world by storm through one chess tournament at a time, she is studying at Sri Sankara Vidyalaya higher secondary school in class 1.
Speaking to Times of India, her father Karthikeyan notes that this young tot has a work ethic that might put adults to shame. From the time she started he says, “She has been undergoing training for at least three hours daily since then. She visits the academy to train on alternate days while practicing at home on the other days.”
And the hard work’s paid off. She was the youngest participant at the national school championships held in 2013, when she was placed 13th nationally. She was four at the time. And in the same year, she was also the youngest child to participate in her category at the Commonwealth Games.
