Pune Security Guard’s Son Makes His Dream a Reality, Clears CA Exam!

Stories of people rising above difficult circumstances to achieve their dreams restore one’s faith in the value of hard work and perseverance.

One such inspiring story is that of Sandip Akde, son of a security guard from Pune, who has cleared the CA exam in his first attempt.

According to a report in The Times of India, Sandip’s father Devidas Akde used to work as a porter at grocery shops until the strenuous work became impossible for him with age. He then took up the job of a watchman at a petrol pump for a salary of Rs 7,000 per month.

With a difficult financial background, all odds were against 23-year-old Sandip Akde when he first decided to take up CA. He was inspired by a friend. Sandip is also the first person in his extended family to clear Class 12. Both his brothers had dropped out of school and had started working to make ends meet. The high coaching fee for CA seemed impossible for the family to afford. Sandip knew that he had to clear the first round without any coaching to prove his potential. He saved money by working under the Earn and Learn scheme of the University of Pune and paid the registration fee with his own hard earned money.

“A major contribution to my success should go to Ambedkar Bhavan which has minimal charges for its library/reading room facility. After studying, I would go for my articleship training, come back to study again and then go home on the last bus,” Sandip told TOI.

After clearing the first exam, he started seeking loans to pay for the classes. Since the CA articleship training needed him to travel around, he had to drop out of MCom in the second year. Sandip is now looking at a bright future ahead of him. It is his dream to get a job with Big4, an accounting firm. He wants to give a comfortable life to his parents and brothers and end their adversities.
