Harry Potter’s Lucius Malfoy ‘Stunned Witless’ after Visit to Cafe Run by Acid Attack Survivors

While reading Harry Potter, most of us thought of Draco Malfoy’s father Lucius Malfoy as an evil, manipulative man and the right hand of the wicked villain Voldemort. But, as we grew up, we realised that actors put their characters behind them once the camera stops rolling. Jason Issacs, who played the role of Lucius Malfoy in all eight parts of the massively successful Harry Potter franchise, had a touching encounter at a restaurant run by acid attack survivors in Agra.

Jason has been in India since the beginning of October to shoot for Mumbai Hotel, a film based on the 26/11 terror attacks. He visited the Taj Mahal with his wife and two daughters, and later paid a visit to Sheroes Hangout.

Sheroes Hangout is a restaurant that was established in Agra in January 2015 to rehabilitate victims of acid attacks, the only staff here. Like any other tourist, Jason arrived in an auto-rickshaw and chatted with the waitresses, who were oblivious of his celebrity status. Soon enough, someone asked his wife, Emma Hewitt, if he was in fact the actor who played Lucius Malfoy.

He appreciated the simple vegetarian meal of daal and vegetables, and clicked pictures with eager fans and the Sheroes staff. He later expressed his appreciation for the restaurant on the microblogging site, Twitter.

“India stuns me witless. Yesterday we ate here (Sheroes Hangout). It’s run by magnificent acid attack survivors,” he wrote.

The 53-year-old actor returned to Sheroes a couple of days later, armed with copies of Harry Potter to gift to the staff.
