Rail Minister’s Prompt Action Reunites Two Missing Girls With Their Families
Prabhu, without any delay, asked railway personnel to monitor all trains headed for Mumbai that were originating from West Bengal.
Two girls who ran away from their respective homes in West Bengal were reunited with their families after the father of one of the girls tweeted Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, who took prompt action.
The two girls, identified as Tanisha and Anindita, left their homes on Sunday after the CBSE 12th Board exam results were declared. According to news reports, the girls were disappointed with their exam scores and this was the reason for them running away.
Tanisha’s parents lodged a complaint with the police and the phones of both girls were kept under surveillance. It soon became apparent that the girls were travelling on a Mumbai bound train.
On learning this, Tanisha’s father immediately tweeted Rail Minister Prabhu, asking for help.
Prabhu, without any delay, asked railway personnel to monitor all trains headed for Mumbai that were originating from West Bengal.
A search mission was launched, with railway authorities keeping an eye on all stations where Mumbai-bound trains halted. The RPF personnel finally located the two girls on Gitanjali Express at Nashik station, on the basis of the scanned images forwarded to them by West Bengal police.

“We got a message on Sunday that two missing girls were headed to Mumbai onboard train number 12860 in the Gitanjali Express. Rajshree Aher, who was on duty at the time, aided by another person, located the girls and took them in their custody,” said Zuber Pathan from RPF staff, Nashik in an interview given to Mumbai Mirror.
In the meantime, Tanisha’s father reached Nashik and was reunited with his daughter. Initially, the personnel refused to send Anindita along with Tanisha and her father. But after prior permission from Anindita’s parents, the trio departed for Kolkata.
Tanisha’s family has thanked the Railway Minister for his quick action in finding the two missing girls.
