Meet Ranjan BS, the boy who topped the 2016 SSLC examinations by scoring 100% marks!

Small Town Boy Achieves Never Before Seen Result, Scores 625/625 in SSLC Exam

The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams of 2016 weren’t a smooth ride, and the paper-leak scams and the multiple re examinations certainly took a toll on the students. But when the results were announced a few days ago, the unexpected happened. Ranjan BS, a boy from the small industrial town of Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district, scored a mind-boggling 625/625 in his exams, a feat that has never been achieved before! He was extremely delighted and surprised when the results came out, as he was himself expecting only around 600 marks.

Ranjan, who has been a student at the Poorna Prajna high school since childhood,  worked extremely hard towards his goal.

“I studied one subject for six hours daily. I studied till I was thorough in every aspect of all the chapters. I didn’t go for tuitions or refer to guides. I solved question papers of previous years, so it supplemented what I studied,” he told Times of India.

He was a constant topper in his school, and also excelled in co-curricular activities such as debating, quizzing, throwball and cricket.

Ranjan also did not go to any additional classes. Inspired by all the cricket that he watched, he planned his study schedule like that of a cricketer before a match.

Also, unlike most of his friends, he preferred not to discuss the paper after the completion of the exams.

“All my friends would discuss the question papers. I never did that. I thought I may have made some mistakes, but realized there was no point in talking about it after I had walked out of the examination hall,” he said to Times of India.

His parents never forced him into studying more during exams, and constantly supported him. His teachers played an important role too, and weren’t shy to heap praise on their star student.

Ranjan, after his success in the SSLC, is now more driven than ever to achieve excellence in the field of medicine.

Not surprisingly, his achievement evoked a great response from everyone. Family and friends, high ranked officials, all flocked to his house to congratulate him. Social media users weren’t left behind in congratulating him too, with many people sending congratulatory messages to him on Facebook.

The overall performance of students in SSLC was good as well. Seven students scored 624, for a joint second place, while 8 scored 623, which are also highly commendable scores. The overall pass percentage was 79.16%. Although there has been a 2% dip compared to last year, the quality of the examinations conducted has improved.

There is no doubt that the Bhadravati lad  will be a source of inspiration for many SSLC students in the future!
