Another braveheart from the Indian Army laid down his life fighting to keep India safe from terrorists. On May 7, a wreath laying ceremony was held in Srinagar, Kashmir, for Sepoy Ramesh Chand Yadav, who died during a firing battle against militants.
According to ANI News, the Indian army blocked an infiltration attempt by militants at the Line of Control in Kupwara, a district in North Kashmir, on May 6. While on their regular monitoring rounds in Gujar Dori area, the army’s 21 KAMAW suspected militant movement in the early hours of Friday. This led to several rounds of firing as the army men sought to eliminate the militants, while the latter fought back.
In this battle, braveheart Sepoy Ramesh Chand Yadav was martyred. He was shot and succumbed to the bullet wounds even though he was immediately airlifted to an army base hospital.
At the full honours ceremony, Lieutenant General Satish Dua, GOC Chinar Corps, saluted his bravery and selfless fighting spirit.
Like Yadav, many from the Indian Army have given up their lives fighting for peace and maintaining law and order at our border areas. It’s a constant, never-ending battle against terrorism and militancy, especially in areas like Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh. We salute the brave soldiers who are wounded and lose their lives keeping us safe from harm.
