This Tabla Player’s Indian Twist to the Game of Thrones Track Will Have You Playing it on Repeat

As the world geared up for the season premiere of Game of Thrones this week, a young artist from Mumbai released a musical treat for all GoT fans.

Karan Chitra Deshmukh released a tabla cover of the popular Game of Thrones theme track.

He re-creates the magic of the theme track using a tabla tarang, which consists of nine dayans (main drum) and a bayan (low-pitched drum.)

Released a day before the premiere, his video has garnered more than 59,000 views already, with countless shares, likes and comments.

Deshmukh has established himself as a versatile artist and has worked with big names in the music industry, including A R Rahman and Karsh Kale.

Although it is his skill at the tabla that has won him praise and recognition, Deshmukh also plays other percussion instruments, including djembe, cajon, dimdi and dholki.

“As a child I always used to go to the kitchen and grab a couple of utensils and play along with the songs on reality TV shows,” Deshmukh told IBTimes UK.

This isn’t the first time that Game of Thrones fans in India have given the haunting theme track their own India twist.
