Prabodh Halde, a resident of Mumbai, has compiled four volumes of a book by collecting positive quotes and motivational messages. He distributes these books among school children free of cost. Here’s why!

“Happiness is the delicate balance between what one is and what one has,” says one of the pages of Prabodhika – a book on positive thoughts and quotes, compiled and published by Prabodh Halde, a resident of Mumbai.

42-year-old Prabodh has been an avid reader ever since he was a child. And slowly, he developed this habit of highlighting all good things he would come across in a book – positive thoughts, motivating lines, inspiring words, etc. He used to share some of these with his friends and family members. But the problem, according to Prabodh, was that all these brilliant lines could not be found at one place, which would have otherwise been a great source of motivation for many. So he thought of compiling everything and arranged them in the form of 20 chapters ranging from philosophy, life, relationships, happiness, success, and more.

“My sole objective when I started was to compile something for school students. These days, because of the TV and other distractions, students are not reading many books. So I thought of publishing such a book that would be a compilation of all motivational things, and distribute them among students for free,” he says.

In 2006, Prabodh published his first set of 5,000 books and distributed them in 100 schools of Maharashtra.

The response in the first year itself was so good that he started getting repeat orders every year. Till today, Prabodh has published four volumes of the book and he distributes them regularly among school students. He makes some improvements in each volume and adds a few things; the last volume has chapters on yoga, nutrition, health, and Indian history as well.

“The whole idea is to spread happiness, positivity and to motivate students. It is the kind of book that you can carry around with yourself anywhere you go. And you can open it from anywhere and start reading,” he adds.

Prabodh puts in all the required funds for publishing these books from his own pocket, and distributes them for free.

His readers’ base includes 60% schools students and the rest are government employees, because he has started distributing the books in government organizations and offices too. He carries out the distribution with the help of some NGOs and his friends. One of Prabodhika’s most regular readers is an 87-year-old who feels highly motivated on reading the books. From school kids to the elderly, this book is helping one and all.

Prabodh is currently working as the Head Regulatory of a consumer products company. “I strongly feel that whatever knowledge you have, you should share it. Because knowledge is the only wealth that increases when you spread it,” he says.
