AIR’s Newly Launched Channel Is a Treat for Classical Music Fans. Here’s More

Classical music fans can now rejoice. All India Radio has launched a channel exclusively for you.

Now,  connoisseurs of classical music can enjoy some of the best compositions through All India Radio’s newly launched 24-hour satellite channel ‘Raagam’.

Launched on Republic Day by Prasar Bharati Chairman Surya Prakash, this channel has its headquarters in Bengaluru.

The channel is available via DTH, an app, and will also be streamed on www.airbengaluru.com. The app will be available on Android, IoS, and the Windows platforms.

“Raagam will have specific time bands for archival assets, senior living legends, budding and upcoming artists, auditioned and approved by AIR and will also have programmes on classical music with interpretation and elucidation by musicologists of repute,” Prasar Bharati said in a statement.

The signature tune of ‘Raagam’ is composed by mridangam player Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma.
