In Pictures: Happy 100th Birthday Marine Drive!

The beauty of Marine Drive never ceases to amaze – be it for those who are visiting Mumbai for the first time, or those who have been living there since always. On its 100th birthday, here are some pictures to show what the place means to Mumbai.

Ever been lucky enough to sit on a window seat on a night flight to Mumbai? The view below is stunning as you come in to land – the twinkling lights of the ‘Queen’s necklace’ are breathtaking.

The beauty of Marine Drive never ceases to amaze – be it for those who are visiting Mumbai for the first time, or those who have been living there since always. The morning walks, the relaxed evenings, the sight of waves crashing on the shore during monsoons, the get-togethers, the chit-chats, the calmness and the excitement – it’s everything at one place.

This iconic boulevard is celebrating its 100th anniversary today. Originally named the ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road’, Marine Drive is a 4.3 km long road in southern Mumbai. It is a C-shaped road linking Nariman Point to Babulnath and Malabar Hill. On its 100th birthday, here are some pictures to show what Marine Drive means to Mumbai.
