Good news for all rail commuters. You can now book train tickets just 30 minutes prior to departure as well.
Indian Railway will now make reservation charts twice. The first will be made four hours prior to the departure of a train. A second one will go up 30 minutes before departure.

Passengers can book tickets online and also at the reservation counters, subject to the availability of berths, even after the first chart has been prepared.
The new rule comes into action today.
This facility will not just give passengers an opportunity to make last minute travel plans and be better informed but will also ensure optimum utilization of the available accommodation in trains.
The step is also expected to reduce the delay in finalization of reservation charts, which is often linked with illegal ticketing activities.
