Thanks to three policemen, a man who was going to commit suicide in Pune, was saved this Tuesday. 65-year-old Bhausaheb Wakadkar tried to take his life by jumping off the Hinjewadi-Wakad flyover. In spite of cops trying to persuade him to stop, the man jumped.

Assistant inspector Chimnaji Kendre and constables Prakash More and Mahesh Kamble were passing the road below the flyover when they saw a man standing at the edge. He was ready to jump off the 30 feet high flyover. The cops knew that there was no time to go over the flyover and stop him. Thus, they decided to take action right where they were.
While the two constables engaged him in conversation, Chimnaji Kendre quickly went ahead to stop the traffic on the road below. Once the man realised what they were trying to do, he wasted no time, and jumped. But the three policemen were standing at the correct spot. They were successful in catching him before the fall. Other than getting a fractured leg, Wakadkar is all fine. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
VV Khule, assistant police inspector, Hinjewadi police station, said that they are refraining from lodging a complaint against him since Wakadkar is an elderly man. As he is currently undergoing treatment, the cops have not been able to ask why he tried to take this step.
