A Kidnapper Almost Made Away with 2 Kids in Delhi. Until This Auto Driver Came Along

Karamveer, an auto driver in Delhi, busted the notorious plans of a man who was trying to kidnap two kids from Dwarka. With his bravery and presence of mind, he saved the two boys and also put the kidnapper behind bars. This is how.

Had it not been for the alertness of an auto driver, two children would have been kidnapped in Delhi last week.

Karamveer Singh, an auto driver, showed immense courage which not only saved the lives of two boys, but also put a kidnapper behind bars.

The two boys aged seven and nine, are residents of DDA-SFS flats in Dwarka, West Delhi. They were in a nearby playground when a young man tried to kidnap them.

The accused, identified as Manish Rajput, had been observing the kids since a week. He would often come and sit on the park bench trying to be friendly with them so as to win their confidence. If questioned, he would confidently swing his car keys and pretend to be the driver of one of the residents in the locality. And finally one day, he lured the kids to go with him for some ice cream.

He took them to a nearby dairy and then got into Karamveer’s auto to “drop them back home”. But instead, he asked the driver to take them to the metro station.

This made Karamveer suspicious. One being enquired, the kidnapper kept saying that he is taking the kids to their father. But when the auto stopped at a signal, he got down and said that he’d prefer walking.

After this, Karamveer drove back to the man and again asked where he is taking the kids. While Manish was furious and asked Karamveer to mind his own business, the driver was not ready to give up. He asked the 9-year-old to give his father’s number and called him up.

The man was shocked to hear the news, as he had not asked anyone to pick his kids up.

At this point, Karamveer tightened his grip on the kidnapper’s hand and did not let him run away. On checking his pocket, the driver also found a sharp knife.

He then hired another auto and took Manish back to the locality where the society members were anxiously waiting for the missing children. The Police was informed and Manish was taken into custody. He was sent to Tihar jail last Thursday.

Residents of the locality honoured Karamveer on the Independence Day and also gave him a token amount as reward. Officials from Delhi Police said that they are also planning to reward Karamveer for his alertness, bravery and presence of mind.
