Waiting for your bus and wondering how long will it take to reach you? Well, the wait in Gujarat at least will end soon as the Gujarat State Regional Transport Corporation has planned to install Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in its express buses to provide real time updates to passengers.
According to State Transport Minister, Vijay Rupani, GSRTC will be installing GPS in 2,200 express buses by the end of December this year.

This is a part of their move to modernize public transport facilities in the state. Tenders have been sent out, inviting potential bidders for this project.
The facility will also be useful for drivers as they can use the navigation system as and when needed.
Mr. Rupani has said that GPS systems will also be installed on regular buses if the initiative with express buses proves to be successful.
A few days ago, Mumbai also launched a mobile-based app to get real time updates on local trains. Read about it here.
