7 Important Things to Note about the New National Career Counselling Portal Launched by PM Modi

From finding the right job to obtaining counselling over the phone, here are seven amazing features of the National Career Counselling Portal.

Are you looking for a job but can’t find a right resource to see relevant job listings? You now have a reason to rejoice. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Career Counselling Portal on Monday at the 46th session of Indian Labour Conference, with the view of modernising all government-run employment exchanges.

Gone are the days of old employment exchanges as the Union government is out with its new website which will help you find a job that suits your profile. The facility focuses on creating a direct market place for employers and job seekers. Here are some key points about the portal-

1. These exchanges will be called National Career Counselling Centres, set up under the National Career Service (NCS) project. The web portal will be a one-stop platform for both job seekers and employers, where registration can be done online.

2. The employment exchange board has about 44.7 million job seekers registered. The new portal will bring about 20 million of these people on board along with 900,000 establishments and companies.

3. In addition to looking and applying for a job, people can also get career counselling through their helpline numbers or by visiting these centres.

Aptitude assessment, job matching, skill courses, training providers and guidance on self-employment and entrepreneurship will be part of the portal too.

4. The candidates can use this platform for free, after linking their Aadhaar numbers while registering with the website.

On the other hand, companies and organizations will be required to submit their society registration or company registration certificate copies during registration.

5. All central government ministries, departments and state-run enterprises will be encouraged to post job vacancies here. Not just government companies but private enterprises can also avail the facility.

6. Currently there are 982 employment exchanges in India. After launch of the facility, the government plans to modernise 100 out of these in the first phase. A sum of Rs. 190 crore has been allocated for the same.

7. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship along with the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises will be key partners in this initiative.
