A land of budding and enthusiastic boxers, India has no concrete podium for amateur boxers. However, where the realm of amateur boxing is foggy, the one of professional boxing is going to clear into establishment.
The country is all set to build a body for governing and easing out the process of professional boxing, such that many more Vijender Singhs take birth and win accolades.

Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) Secretary General Brig. P K Muralidharan Raja’s inception, this idea is now set to take a firmly structured form.
On the brink of being launched in New Delhi, this body is being backed by international promoters, the unveiling of whom will be done at the formal event.

“We would be facilitating the boxers who want to try their hand in the professional circuit. We would ensure financial security from our end besides offering them good deals with leading promoters. I will divulge the details of the plan on Wedanesday at the launch”

Currently, the responsibility of amateur boxing is being handled by a five-member committee, on an ad-hoc basis, which has been set up by the International Boxing Association for amateurs, since the new committee which was chosen last year failed to cooperate and dissolved into extinction. However, this body for professional boxing intends on fulfilling each and every need of a budding boxer, such that the only focus of the players should be training and bettering themselves for bouts.
This is an extremely positive news, not only for the field of boxing, but also for the growing potential of other fields of sports in India apart from the most commercial ones.
