Neem Twig Toothbrushes & Steel Buckets – Meet the Man who Lives a Completely Plastic Free Life

While many of us keep wondering about the ways in which we can live in an an eco-friendly manner, this man from Delhi has found a brilliant path. He has been living a plastic free life since the past 10 years. Here’s how.

Bhim Rawat lives in Narela, Delhi and his life does not involve the use of plastic at all. From cutlery to furnishing, everything in his house is eco-friendly. He is 32-year-old and he has been living this way since 10 years now.

He uses neem twigs for a toothbrush and the paintings in his house are made of floral dyes. Food at his place is served on leaf or steel plates.

From powdered rock salt, stainless steel buckets and mugs, to cloth bags, bamboo cups, and rugs made from old gunny bags – he has an eco-friendly alternative for all things plastic.

For his wedding, Bhim Rawat used calendars to make invitations and gave cloth bags as return gifts to his guests.

He was a teacher and got inspired to take this path while teaching children about the issue. “When I first started working for the environment, I researched a lot and found that we are the ones destroying our home and killing wildlife. I realised that our lives can go on perfectly without plastic. So why not do so?” he told Hindustan Times. He now works with an NGO in Shalimar Bagh.

He is also working on finding a way to compost toilet waste. Kudos to the man for his determination!
