IRCTC introduces cash on delivery for online booking of train tickets. Here are some important points you need to know about this service.

Online booking of train tickets till now required you to have a credit/debit card or a netbanking facility. But that is now set to change. IRCTC is now offering Cash on Delivery on booking of train tickets online. Initially this is going to be available in around 200 cities across the country!
This has been made to reduce crowds at the offline centers and to also make it easier for those passengers who are reluctant to use digital payments or do not have access to one.
Important points you need to know
- Passengers can opt for the Cash on Delivery service on tickets booked at least 5 days in advance
- A service fee of Rs. 40 will be charged for delivery of each Sleeper Class ticket and a fee of Rs. 60 will be charged for delivery of each AC class ticket
- Anduril Technologies through their website and their App — BookMyTrain.com is authorised for providing CoD services.
This is a welcome move and will definitely help thousands of passengers who earlier were not able to book tickets online due to lack of access to digital payments.
