For many, a cancer diagnosis is a death sentence.

However, there are those who are fearless enough to not only face the disease head on, but also take on the challenge of not allowing it to disrupt their daily lives.

In an inspiring Humans of Bombay post on Facebook, a retired professor who was diagnosed with cancer a decade ago, talks about how he hasn’t let the disease disturb the course of his day.

For a man who kept himself in the best shape possible, a cancer diagnosis would have been devastating. Nevertheless, he has soldiered on.

“It’s a mental game. I still wake up at 4.30 a.m. and do all my work, including washing and ironing clothes. I keep my mind occupied during the day with my hobbies, listening to classical music and studying astrology. And of course, I spend time with my wife–that’s a must from a now-retired professor. We both love old films! And going out. We go out for dinners and have a list of unwatched films we’re trying to go through! If someone asks me about the retired life, I don’t think of it as ‘retired,’” he tells HoB.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of his name on the post, and because HoB has left it that way, there is little point in prodding.

This cancer fighter’s words offer much-needed solace and wisdom to live by. Read his post below to understand more.
