Dropping Out of College, This Son Did Something For His Parents That Money Can’t Buy!
“I convinced my supervisor to allow me to attend college once a week. Every Wednesday, I attend college and in a year, I’ll get a bachelor’s degree. I’ll have achieved my father’s dream.”
For parents, the overarching purpose behind everything they do is to ensure that their children are always safe, happy, and well-provided for.
How wonderful it must be then, for them to see that their children not only recognise their hard work and sacrifice but also become successful in their own right.
In a post in Humans of Bombay, this man narrates his story of growing up with a father who always put his family first. A humble farmer, he wanted his children to be well-educated and secure good jobs. To this end, he even borrowed money several times so that he could pay the examination fees for his children.
This man decided that while he wanted an education, he did not want to see his father in debt. He dropped out of college and started hunting for jobs.
The happy protagonist
After several unsuccessful attempts, he was ready to give up, when he his friend suggested that he speak to the supervisor of a Pepperfry factory in Bhiwandi. Following his advice, he landed up at the premises and not only did he get the job but in a span of just a few months got promoted to a Service Officer. Following this, he also decided to return to college.
“I convinced my supervisor to allow me to attend college once a week. Every Wednesday, I attend college and in a year, I’ll get a bachelor’s degree. I’ll have achieved my father’s dream.”
Not only this, the devoted son has also purchased a bike for his father with his savings and plans to surprise him with a place he has rented to open a dairy.
We at The Better India salute this man for bravely overcoming all the odds, and are sure his parents would be immensely proud of both their upbringing and their son’s achievements.
