This 11-YO Whiz Kid from Hyderabad Teaches Designing to Engineers for Free!

Like any other student, 11-year-old Mohammed Hassan Ali wakes up and gets ready early in the morning for school in Hyderabad. The class 7 student comes home by 3:00 p.m., finishes his homework and goes to play. But after 5:30 p.m., you will not find Hassan running around or watching cartoons, because this is the time he devotes exclusively to teaching!

The child prodigy watched a video online last year that prompted him to take up this challenge. “I was watching a video on the internet about Indians doing odd jobs in foreign countries even after studying. That is when it struck my mind that what is it that our engineers lack? I realised it is primarily technical and communication skills that they are not well aware of. Since my area of interest is designing, I started learning and teaching the same,” he told NDTV.

So, after his homework is done and he has played for while with his friends, Hassan teaches design and software to engineers.

Mind you, all of his students are more than twice his age. But that does not stop Hassan from sharing insights about “design and drafting.” His students too, take the lessons in the right spirit and have been learning eagerly from him. Currently, his batch consists of 30 engineers, and all of them are BTech or MTech students!

Says G Sushma, a civil engineer from Hyderabad, “I have been coming here for a month-and-a-half to learn civil software. He is younger to all of us here but manages to teach quite well. His skills are good and what he teaches is easy to comprehend.”

Hassan does not charge any fee for the classes.

He says he is doing the service for India so that the engineers of today are more employable and don’t have to do jobs that don’t match their education abroad. Needless to say, his parents have been supportive of his endeavours too.

Speaking to ANI, Hassan said that teaching runs in his blood and comes naturally to him, since everyone from his family, including his grandfather, parents and even uncles are in the stream.

Even as the engineers who train under him are full of praises for their teacher, Hassan holds this eminent position only from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. After that, it is back to finishing his homework and off to bed.

Hassan hopes to teach a thousand students by 2020, and going by the positive feedback he has received from his current batch, the dream does not seem impossible at all!
