A youth was trying to end his life at Raipur's famous Skywalk, when this cop intervened.
It was supposed to be a regular working day for Traffic Policeman Jawan Chandra Prakash when he reported for duty at 7 am in Pune’s Shastri Chowk.
However, his attention was brought towards a young man who was trying to hang himself from Raipur’s famous Skywalk.
According to the Dainik Bhaskar, the bridge would have been the scene of a horrific disaster. Chandra Prakash rushed to the scene and immediately called the control room.
Help, however, did not arrive, and the young Jawan started climbing the bridge, trying to reach the top of the Skywalk using a ladder. However, the ladder wasn’t tall enough, and the cop was unable to reach the youth.
Even as the crowd of passersby increased, Prakash remained calm and did not give up the rescue mission.
The suicidal youth is said to be in a compromised mental condition, according to this report, which also states that he had come to Narayanpur for training to be a home guard.
Well, his suicide attempt was luckily foiled by the selfless cop, who had to risk his own life. Fortunately, Chandra Prakash’s efforts did not go unnoticed, as the Raipur IG announced a reward for him.
