India’s First Cruise Service from Mumbai to Goa Starts: What You Need to Know
Goa is everyone's favourite holiday destination-reach there, in a unique and memorable way, on India's first cruise vessel.
Almost all of us have been to Goa, multiple times. While the general modes of transport are often preferred due to their easy availability, you might want to consider this for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The first domestic cruise vessel service, Angriya, started from Mumbai’s new domestic cruise terminal on a test run on Wednesday at 5 pm and arrived at Goa on Thursday morning.
Passengers can choose from seven categories of rooms, dig into two delicious meals, and a brunch, and swim in the pool on the open deck while gazing at the vast Konkan coastline. The ship’s staff, and its sailor-owner, Captain Nitin Dhond, will entertain you with interesting stories about the region’s history.
The cruise vessel is equipped with a lounge, attached to one of the restaurants that can be used for occasions from wedding receptions to corporate conferences and offshore business meetings.
Angriya is owned by Angriya Sea Eagle Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sea Eagle Cruises–a company devoted to helping eco-tourists learn about the biodiversity of Goa. The cruise aims to tap the leisure travel market, with domestic and foreign tourists in mind.
Naturally, this isn’t cheap. A base-price ticket aboard this vessel will set you back by Rs 7,000 or more. Sea Eagle’s Director, Siddharth Newalkar, told the Financial Express that the pricing is yet to be fixed. According to him, once the marketing strategy is finalised, price points will be determined. Schedules and timings of the cruise would be finalised after the test run.
The tourist influx to Goa has been ever-increasing. Foreign ships often have Goa on their itineraries, and on an average, Goa receives around 15-20 cruise vessels every year. Chartered flights have increased manifold–there have already been 808 chartered flights in the financial year 2018, as opposed to around 988 in the financial year 2017.

Well, the ticket might seem steep in comparison, to the Rs 1,000-3,000 price range of bus and train tickets, or the Rs 3,000-7,000 price range of off-season flight tickets. However, it isn’t always the destination that matters, it is the journey. And imagine how peaceful and memorable yours will be, without too many nosy co-passengers to shatter the calm. Instead of arriving in Goa, tired and jaded, arrive fresh and rejuvenated, ready for a great holiday. So hop on to this cruise for the holiday of a lifetime.
