The Irrawaddy dolphin is native to Southeast Asia but has increasingly come under threat due to tourism and related activities. However, initiatives to conserve the species has helped reduce the effects of human activity.
Just off the coast of Puri’s Beleswar Beach, lies a thriving community of marine life, and recently, in a rare turn of events, an Irrawaddy dolphin became stranded on the shore, and was unable to make it back to the sea.
When two youths from the area came across the beached animal in distress, they decided to lend a helping hand, and guide it towards the safety of the waters!

What makes this even more heartwarming is that unlike other cases, when beached animals or others in distress have been mistreated by humans, these samaritans had the presence of mind to take the right call.
