Swachh Bharat Summer Internship: Help Clean Villages & Win Up to Rs 2 Lakh

On October 2, 2014, the Modi government launched India’s most extensive cleanliness drive—the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The flagship cleanliness campaign aims to clean the roads and infrastructure of India’s cities, towns and villages and make India open defecation free (ODF) by 2019. Now, to promote the mission further, the government plans to rope in college/university students and offer them a Swachh Bharat summer internship where they can work for the campaign.

According to the official internship website, the internship aims to develop the skills and orientation of youth for sanitation related work, give them an opportunity to work for the campaign and integrate the youth in community development work in rural areas in the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The 100 hours of Swachhata internship between May 1 and July 31, will be offered by the following ministries:

a) Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports

Within 15 days of completing their fieldwork, the students need to submit a report on the Swachh Bharat Internship Portal. They will be helped by a supervisor assigned to them via the institutions who will also guide them throughout the internship period as per the guidelines.
