TISS Conclave Brings Together Experts, CEOs To Chart a Better Future

TISS organizes a Conclave to bring together NPOs for greater social good

TISS Conclave Brings Together Experts, CEOs To Chart a Better Future

Non-Profit Organisations or NPOs often collaborate with each other to boost organisational efficiency, increase their effectiveness, or drive broader social change. Forming an alliance and partnering together allows them to achieve their goals and broaden their impact. To that end, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is organising a 3-day conclave for different actors in the CSR business to interact and form partnerships that will have a strong social impact.

The conclave gives a chance for funders and non-profits to explore their mutual connection, strengthen their respective internal capacities, and build partnerships that will hopefully make the world a better place.

It will be held from April 23-25 at the Bengaluru Central University campus on Ambedkar Road. A ‘Western Conclave’ will also be held along the lines of the ‘Southern Conclave’ from May 21-23 at TISS.

TISS is Asia’s oldest institute for professional social work education and was founded in 1936 by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. TISS Assessment and Empanelment Standards for Development Institutions in India, which is organising the conclave, was conceptualised in 2011 for the evaluation and empanelment of Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs).

It has been developed by a team of experts comprising of academicians, researchers and practitioners from varied disciplines and expertise in an inclusive and participatory manner. It came into existence after extensive regional consultations from 2011-2016 with NPOs, Government Bodies, Corporations and International Funding Agencies.

The intent behind this framework is to have organisations introspect on both their successes and losses and plan a roadmap for the future.

TISS AESDII aims at promoting and creating a level playing field for varied types of organisations with varying models, scales, structures and ideologies. The ‘TISS AESDII – Conclaves for Building CSR Partnerships’ desires to be a platform for action and a forum which will connect the donors and implementing agencies.

Consisting of a wholesome schedule that includes something for every partner, the Southern Conclave is the first in a series of regional consultations cum workshops to be held this year. There will be many eminent personalities in attendance from professors to financial officers to CEOs. One can expect to attend panel discussions and master classes on various CSR related topics.

There will also be a ‘proposal submission’ conducted by the TISS AESDII Team – where different NPOs will each submit a flagship proposal for the TISS AESDII Bazaar. The TISS AESDII Bazaar will provide an arena for NPOs to present innovative, sustainable and high impact proposals that have been mentored during the conclave before corporate CSR teams. The valedictory address will be given by Professor Anurag Kumar, Director, Indian Institute of Science.

This Southern Conclave will conclude with a feedback session and concluding remarks by Rohan Sarma, Head, TISS AESDII.
