Surprise for Passengers! New LHB Coaches for Bengaluru Superfast Express
The LHB coaches are reported to be safer than the coaches the Railways used earlier.
The Indian Railways has been mulling over introducing Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, and slowly phasing out ICF coaches. There are many reasons, safety being the foremost. Well, read here, about how these LHB coaches are safer, and yield fewer casualties, in case of accidents.
Passengers at Vishakapatnam Junction on Sunday, got a glimpse of these swanky new coaches first-hand, as Train No. 12845 Bhubaneshwar-Bengaluru Cantonment Superfast Express, rolled into Platform-4. The train sported brand new LHB coaches.

LHB Coaches are known for effective braking at higher speeds.
A visit to the indiarailinfo.com website reveals that the 12845/46 SF Express, was scheduled to use LHB rakes, w.e.f April 15th from Bhubaneshwar, and from tomorrow, April 17th, from Bengaluru.
The revised coach composition for the train will be as follows:
1 AC 2-tier coach.
4 AC 3-tier coaches.
11 second class sleeper coaches.
1 pantry car.
2 luggage-cum-brake vans with generators.
Well, the LHB coaches with their brand new looks did surprise passengers with good reason–the East Coast Railways had not made a specific announcement for the same.
