Railways First All-Women Maintenance Batch Is Doing Incredible Work!
The all-women maintenance batch of the Indian Railways is a model of efficiency!
The members of the first women batch of the Railway Electric Line Maintenance Section successfully carried on working with the electric lines on the railway tracks between Sasthamkotta and Thiruvalla, and Kayamkulam and Karuvatta, and performed dangerous tasks with ease.
Briji, a junior engineer, is the team leader, while, Krishnakumari, Maya, Sandhya, Ramya, Mini, Raji, Suja, Sheeba and Sujitha make up the rest of this daredevil team.
This is not the first time women have been involved working with the Railways. For the past four years, women have been a vital part of the maintenance workforce for electrical lines.
The small team has a distinct uniform, cap, and belt. They ascend ladders, climbing to the top of the tower wagon, and hang from the belt that is connected to the electrical tower. Their work is not only limited to maintenance; these women are also involved in changing safety lines.

The efforts of these women have earned them a reward of Rs 10000, and certificates. It is indeed great to see these women smashing the glass ceiling, and conquer an originally male-dominated profession.
