They say if you do what you love and love what you do, life will take you to the peak of success. Although this is a very dear thought to have, and the perfect motivation to invest your time and energy in doing something you care about, sometimes, life throws more challenges at you.

Something similar happened with Ruthuparna Sharma, a 24-year-old author and professor!

Speaking to The Better India, Ruthuparna said, “From my childhood, I’ve tried succeeding in numerous things – like table tennis, theatre, network marketing, event management, chartered accountancy, distribution business etc. But didn’t find success in any of these despite having friends who reached great heights after they started with me in all these fields.”

However, without giving up on his ambitions to do something in life, Ruthuparna decided to take a whole new perspective towards it.

“If God upsets your plans, He has better plans for you!” believed Ruthuparna.

During his graduation years, when he spoke to his friends about his experiences and the lessons he has learned from life, he never expected that this could change his life!

When one of his friends joked that Ruthuparna should write a book of these stories – that’s exactly what he did!

“I’m an adventurous guy when it comes to exploring oneself and here is the manifestation of it through ‘In the Rhythm of Silence’ (the book he wrote),” says Ruthuparna, adding,

“I wanted to show everyone that answers for the problems that we face are around us, and we never have to go in search for answers anywhere else.

My aim through this book was to make people wonder, how beautiful life is!”

The book comprises of 30 short stories and experiences that portray essential life lessons taken from everyday stories of our lives. The simplicity of the stories and the language made the book very relatable to those who read it and thus increased its popularity.

So much so, that a professor at Jain University, Bengaluru, came across it and believed that Ruthuparna could be the perfect mentor for its students!

“Jain University is proactive in developing students not only from an academic perspective, but they also want to imbibe humanitarian values through a department called Human Networking Academy… I have been handling classes since December 2017, and the topics I handle are Awareness of Self, Positive Mental Attitude, Leadership required for the welfare of the nation.”

The way he does is by approaching his students’ everyday experiences and discussing those with the classes.

“I’m a story-teller,” Ruthuparna told TBI, adding that “A teacher teaches a subject, a trainer trains an individual to be the best in whatever field they know. I believe every individual is unique in their way and stories are the tools which help them introduce their original self to themselves. I aim to help individuals discover their unique self and my stories do exactly that.”

Ruthuparna’s journey from enjoying extra-curricular activities, to failing in his ambitions and taking a whole new route in life is certainly an inspiration.
