A CRPF Jawan and A Starving Disabled Man. Here’s Why This Story Is Going Viral!

Amid the rising tension in Kashmir, a viral picture of a CRPF jawan in Srinagar, who gave away his own food to a starving physically-challenged man, is winning the internet.

Giving a brief account of the beautiful exchange, Hyderi writes:

“At first sight, finding a man in Pheran who was crawling near CRPF personnel near Police Headquarter in Srinagar, was enough to suggest that this poor Kashmiri was another victim of rights abuse, for which the paramilitary force is infamous in Kashmir. The CRPF man was saying something to the poor man. I slowed down my vehicle to inquire about the matter, as two persons standing on the Peer Bagh bridge, were known to me.

But before I would inquire, the CRPF man approached them asking them if they had any bread, but the duo replied in negative. The CRPF man subsequently posed the same question to a few more passers-by, but none of them were carrying bread, either. His query attracted my attention more, and I tracked his moves for a few moments.

Finally, the CRPF man took out a banana he had brought for his own lunch and gave it to the physically challenged man crawling on the ground. “Ye Lo Bhai Khalo,” (Take brother, eat this) the man in uniform told the beggar.

I got down from the vehicle to take a picture of the generous man in uniform. He was initially reluctant to let me take his picture till his superior verified my credentials. The young man introduced himself as Sujeet Kumar from Bihar.

No matter how many oppressors you come across in Kashmir, humans will be humans.”

Needless to say, Sujeet Kumar’s selfless act of kindness was rewarded.

Reiterating the power of social media in situations like these he wrote, “Thanks to all those who share or acknowledge my posts. Social media is powerful, and together we can make things happen InshaAllah because a major challenge helpless people of Kashmir presently face is rampant corruption and favouritism. #MJHPosts”

We salute the selfless act of Sujeet Kumar and hope this beautiful incident inspires many individuals to not give up in the face of terror, and choose kindness and humanity every single time.
